Shannon Slaughter
First grade
From the principal

I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. My Master’s Degree is in School Administration.
I taught Special Education classes in Spartanburg’s District 6, then moved to Miami, Fla., where I taught for 18 years and was a principal for five years. For four years I acted as an Educational Consultant to hospitals that served children with psychiatric/psychological illnesses.
I am very happy to be back in Spartanburg. I graduated form Spartanburg High School. Now I am back at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School where I was very active in the Parish CYO and my seven youngest brothers and sisters went to school.

I have a California Multiple Subject teaching credential with a CLAD certificate from California State University as well as a South Carolina teaching certificate. I earned a Master’s of Art in Education specializing in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University. This is my eighth year of teaching, seven of which have been in first grade. I have spent the last seven years involved as a volunteer in community, school, and church activities, while substituting in grades K-6.
I am a California native, recently moving to South Carolina. I feel blessed for the opportunity to be an integral part of the St. Paul school community. I am impressed with the parent involvement, respect, love of learning, wonderful staff and the commitment to the exceptional education provided for each student. I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!
