St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church was built in 1883 and has played a significant role in the Spartanburg community.

The past 128 years Spartanburg has grown significantly and our parish has outgrown what we fondly call “our little church.”

To better serve the needs of both the parish and the school, we are embarking on a major building project to build a new church.  An architect has been hired and is working closely with Fr. Tomothy M. Gahan, pastor of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, and the Diocese of Charleston.

Preliminary plans call for a new church to seat approximately 1,000 people. Once the new church is built the gymnasium will be available for sports and school/parish events.

The new church will be located at the top of our parking lot on Main Street. Fr. Gahan is following Diocesan guidelines to get this project moving.

Our little church is a wonderful and historic facility. We are proud of its beauty and the reverent attitude it commands. We are equally proud that the National Register of Historic Places recognized the importance of its heritage. We are excited about the new addition to our parish and the new opportunities for parishioners and students that will come with it.
